Josh Van Wie | Worship Intern

I come from a family background where faith is considered the most important part of life. As early as I can remember, my parents were committed to volunteering in their local church and to teaching our family about Jesus and the Bible. I found something in the Bible stories that made me feel energetic and purposeful, and decided I wanted Jesus to be a part of my life.
Faith in Jesus began to mean something different as I grew older. In college I began to notice that I naturally possessed some self-centered attitudes and emotions. I found myself acting on those feelings in an effort to control my circumstances and make myself happy, but the only time I truly experienced joy was when I turned my focus onto Jesus instead of myself. It took faith to believe that he was better, that what he did on the cross actually brought me into a relationship with God that was deep enough to satisfy the desires of my soul.
After graduating college and taking a year off, I enrolled in grad school at WSU and started attending Resonate. I loved the community of friends I found there and became more involved, first as a volunteer and then by working full time for the church.
My prayer for Resonate is that God would be known in our communities and cities as completely perfect, pure and good and people would find life in Jesus.
